4th Grade School Supplies

Dear students and families,

Welcome to fourth grade. We are so excited to be at Whitson with you! Fourth grade is going to be a fun and exciting year!

First off, you will be the oldest students in our school with opportunities to be a leader every day. We will be studying energy, landforms, and environments (with an emphasis on local salmon). We will also learn about extreme environments, what it means to have a great heart, and an important revolution in our history. In math, we will be continuing to work on multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction but using very big or very small numbers.

To rock 4th grade, please consider continuing to memorize your multiplication and addition facts (1-10) this summer. We also encourage you to read most days! Make sure you track the books that you read and the games that you play with your family on the Book Shelfie and 30 Things form given out on Move Up Day. (Bring it back to school in August for a special prize!) Lastly, it is so important that we all feel like we belong and that people care about us, so we will be spending lots of time building our classroom community to be a safe and happy space for us all. We can’t wait to see you on August 30th, when we will gather in our fourth grade classroom and begin a great year together!
